Two new souls for the Scrambler® Icon

At EICMA 2025, Scrambler Ducati introduces two new cover kits for the Icon: Retro Stripe and Old Skool Checkerboard, two color schemes that celebrate motorcycling heritage and the free-spirited attitude of the Scrambler world, combining racing DNA, pop culture, and contemporary design.

THE NEW SCRAMBLER® ICON COVER KITS: WHERE HERITAGE MEETS FREEDOM

The new Retro Stripe and Old Skool Checkerboard cover kits made their world debut on EICMA’s opening day. With vintage lines, refined details, and bold color combinations, they embody two unique expressions of the same spirit, that of riders who live the motorcycle as a statement of authenticity, creativity, and freedom. Two different ways to interpret the same philosophy.

OLD SKOOL CHECKBOARD

An old-skool graphic inspired by the legendary checkerboard pattern, a symbol of freedom, speed, and rebellious spirit. The black-and-white squares recall the races of the past and the custom culture of the 1980s, when the racing and urban worlds met on track and on the street. A clean yet iconic design that gives the Scrambler Icon a bold, racer-inspired character.

Born on the racetrack as the sign marking the end of a race, the checkerboard pattern has become a universal symbol of victory and adrenaline. In the 1960s and ’70s, that same graphic left the circuits to become an emblem of style and identity, adorning helmets, suits, and fairings.

Over time, the checkerboard pattern also entered skate and street culture, popularized by Vans and the iconic checkered helmets of the era. It became a distinctive sign of belonging and personal freedom.

In the Old Skool Checkerboard kit, this visual language is reinterpreted with a contemporary and bold palette: Silver Ice Glossy as an elegant base, Thrilling Black for strong contrast, and Tangerine Orange Glossy as an energetic accent. The checkerboard details and orange lines blend harmoniously, creating a perfect balance between racing heritage and urban culture.

Today, the Old Skool Checkerboard livery continues to evoke that golden era: a tribute to the roots of motorcycling, smoky pit lanes, impromptu races, and the thirst for freedom that fuels every ride.

RETRO STRIPE

An authentic tribute to the ’70s, when motorcycling was synonymous with style and freedom. The Retro Stripe lines recall the legendary liveries of the era: vibrant colors, clean geometries, and dynamic graphics that convey energy and movement even when standing still.

Inspired by the iconic liveries of the Ducati Pantah and 350 GTV/S, vintage Bell helmets with the two red and blue front stripes, and the racing graphics of Porsche Martini Racing, this kit celebrates a timeless aesthetic.

The Pearl Glossy color wraps the bike with elegance, while the Ducati Red Glossy and Cocktail Blue Glossy stripes run side by side along the tank covers, front fender, and number plate side panels, where the “SCR” logo, inspired by the design signed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Ducati, stands out.

During the golden years of customization, these colored lines expressed the character of every rider. Today, they come alive again on the Scrambler Icon, giving it a genuine, vibrant, and timeless soul. A graphic that captures the authentic spirit of the past and transforms it into a contemporary symbol of freedom and authenticity.
